Here we go again

I feel like all I'm writing right now is a repeat. I'm just in this constant weight loss struggle. I was doing sooooo well for a while, then I hurt my ankle. The same ankle I broke last year. I didn't want to do ANYTHING to cause me to do that again. So I stopped exercising. I haven't gained any of the 8 lbs I lost back, but I also haven't lost any more of 44-46 lbs I need to lose.

My cycles are still all screwed up, and that's frustrating as well. Why I thought that dropping 8 lbs would magically cause my cycles to straighten up, I don't know. But apparently I did.

I went to the chiropractor today and had my pelvis realigned, along with a vertebrae in my neck, my L1 vertebrae and my ribs. Because yes, my ribs go out of alignment. You have to be awesome like me for that to happen.

My mom told me today that she was concerned about me because I never seem to have an appetite. I beg to differ. When we're out and about on the town, and we're hungry, nothing ever sounds good to me. That's because we have ONE restaurant that I can stand to eat at, and it's rather expensive. I don't like fast food. I mean yes, I like french fries, but everything else? Meh. Not a fan.

I need to try and write less about me, and more about my sweet girl. She is so big, and has such a personality. Maybe a post will come soon.

Stick with me, I'm working on it.

  1. Shaina...my heart hurts for you. I can tell it was "one of those days" when you posted this, but I still hurt for you. I know just how you feel about the frustrations of weight loss. However, I KNOW there is hope. How do I know?Well, my grandfather who has been VERY overweight (I'd say obese, but I hate that word) my entire like (I'm almost 26) has lost 76 pounds since September. The man who has done every diet, tried every fad, etc. looks thin for the first time since I've been born. We had a good discussion about it when he was visiting from NY. Some of the things he said were...
    1. Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day. Just move on and do it right tomorrow.
    2. Exercise in SOME way everyday if possible. (Even if that's just lifting free weights or doing stomach crunches (swimming is good for you since your ankle can't take the heat.)
    3. Eat intentionally. Don't just eat because it's time or eat because it's there. Think about what you're eating. Think about why you're eating. Think about how much you're eating. Enjoy what you're eating before and after.
    4. Set a long term goal, but also set short term goals.
    5. Do what works for you. (He cut out all carbs for the first few months and has very few now. We are Italian and pasta is his weakness. He had to cut it out or he knew he'd kill his eating plan and overindulge.)
    6. Remind yourself why you're doing what you're doing.
    7. Make sure you're doing it for the right reason.
    8. Don't give up and relapse into your bad habits. (He suffers from seasonal depression, as do most people in my family, and he said the winter was the toughest patch because it just makes you want to eat!)

I hope that helped, or at least offered you encouragement! If a 68 year old man can do it, I KNOW you can do it! Take it a day at a time! :-) I'm here if you ever want to talk about it!

    xo,
    A
