I know it seems silly to write about struggling with weight-loss less than 24 hours after I published my post about it clicking, but it's true. I'm struggling.

I'm struggling because I love food. Not necessicarily love to EAT food, but I love to cook. Love. it. I watch cooking shows (driving my husband crazy I'm sure), I read cook books, the only magazine I receive is a cooking one...Cooking calms me like nothing else can.

Last night I attempted a peanut butter and chocolate bread pudding with caramel sauce. I only ate two bites of it (because it was a fail), but I still made it...without even THINKING about the diet.

Lifestyle changes don't come quickly, I realize that.... but do I have to give up my love of being in the kitchen? Do I just focus on making healthy recipes? But what about baking?

I'm just struggling with putting my passion inline with my needs.

  1. There is nothing wrong with loving to cook. Its awesome. With ppl being so fast food forward, the home cooked meal is falling to the back. Keep cooking, but why not take your fave. recipes and modify them to be healthier? I know you cook pretty healthy already but strive to make everything healthier that you make. A little bit of trial and error and you will have your own cook book of great, tastey, and healthy foods.

  2. wish I had an easy answer, but maybe research healthy baking options, and put your passion into transforming your favorite recipes... Or start giving away your not so healthy baking right away! lol... I love baking too, and have to keep myself out of the kitchen.
    Good luck!

  3. I love to eat food, but I hate cooking. Hate it! I like to bake, but cooking a meal? Nope, I just would rather order out. Isn't that an awful trait for a mother of such a large family to have? But it's true. Thank goodness my husband enjoys cooking. I think we'd al starve, if not.

I need to lose about 30 pounds. I have no idea how to start. I am 41 years old and have birthed 8 babies...and up until I hit my 40's, weight has never been an issue for me. I could eat pretty much whatever I wanted and I did not gain weight. My baby weight came off within that first year, and I was good to go. But now? I never did lose the baby weight from my last pregnancy. My weight is up to what it was when I delivered my first child. I really can't believe it. Because I am tall -- 5'9" -- the weight doesn't show as much, but I know it's there. I can feel it, and I can see it. But it's easy to hide with certain clothing.

Anyway...I just don't know where to start. Exercise, for one. What I need to do is just start something...and STICK with it. I've never been one to routinely it will be a stretch for me to actually do this.

  4. Love cooking too... there must be some great recipe books for fun yummy food you can eat on a diet or transforming your favourite recipes is a great idea Sherri :) xoxo
